Chinese New Year Party

IMG_116

Above is Becca at the New Year dinner with Luke and Sam, her two mates from the Fuling Orphanage. (For the 2009 photo, click here. We missed 2010 due to snow…) In the picture below, all the kids at the party are watching Mulan II. The red arrow points to Becca.

A Cold Hike!

We started the Gravel Springs Gap parking area on the Appalachian Trail (the upper pin on the map). Then headed south for 0.1 mile and turned left on the Bluff Trail. We switched back 0.3 miles down through a crowded forest to emerge at the Gravel Springs Hut (see blue GPS dot on the map). In front of us was a real spring and the trail shelter seen in the second photo.

On Skyline Drive, in the Shenandoah National Park

This is one of the vista stops as one climbs up Skyline Drive from Front Royal. Here, we are still ascending--the elevation is about 2,000 feet above sea level.

Below is a panorama shot--click on it in order to see the full view!

As always, the blue dot on these maps below shows our location when we took the photos:
